Restricted nickel liquid
Liquid nickel is 134 mg/L or more, so this restricted entry takes priority.
Is California code 726 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. Code 726 is a restricted waste code, so it wins over any non-restricted code that also fits. Choose it after the hazardous waste determination. It doesn't prove the waste is hazardous or decide its federal RCRA status.
If a shipment needs the Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest, enter 726 in Item 13 for its waste line. Use one California code, plus the federal RCRA codes when the waste is federally hazardous.
RCRA waste meets a federal listing or characteristic and has no federal exclusion. Non-RCRA waste is hazardous under California rules only. California presumes hazardous waste is RCRA unless the generator shows it isn't, so keep that record.
What does California code 726 cover?
This restricted entry is hazardous liquid with a representative nickel result of 134 mg/L or more. A lower concentration doesn't meet code 726, though other California or federal hazardous waste rules can still apply.

Is nickel liquid California code 726 or 132?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| 726 | Representative nickel is at least 134 mg/L in the liquid. |
| 132 | The aqueous liquid holds nickel but stays below the restricted threshold. |
The current Appendix XII threshold includes exactly 134 mg/L. DTSC's 2017 guidance says greater than 134 mg/L. If more than one restricted code fits, confirm the single California code for the waste line. The rules give no general tie-breaker.
Which wastes take California code 726?
| Waste | When it’s 726 |
|---|---|
| Nickel-bearing waste | Liquid nickel is at or above 134 mg/L |
Which codes sit beside California code 726?
| Code | What it is |

| 722 | Restricted cadmium liquid |
| 723 | Restricted hexavalent-chromium liquid |
| 724 | Restricted lead liquid |
| 725 | Restricted mercury liquid |
