Inorganic solids
PCB inorganic devices, 500 ppm or more
Nonhazardous inorganic electrical equipment with at least 500 ppm PCBs.
Where does Texas form code 397 go in the Texas waste code?
In characters 5–7. The 8-character code is a 4-character stream sequence, then the 3-digit form 397, then a class character. Form 397 describes the stream in the inorganic solids category. This form needs nonhazardous waste. Industrial waste with PCBs at 50 ppm or more is Class 1 when it isn't RCRA hazardous, and the PCB form doesn't decide that. The class character depends on what the stream is made of, where it came from and its properties.
For a hazardous or Class 1 shipment that needs a Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest, enter the full Texas code in Item 13, across 2 blocks on paper. Add any EPA waste codes. The 3 form digits alone are not enough.
The generator sets the class. Work through the exclusions, then the federal hazardous-waste listings and characteristics, then the Texas industrial-waste criteria. H means hazardous. 1, 2 and 3 are nonhazardous industrial classes. Process knowledge or testing backs the class. Choosing a form doesn't set it.
What does Texas form code 397 cover?
Nonhazardous electrical equipment in the inorganic category with at least 500 ppm PCBs. Equipment stays a separate form from loose PCB solids and soil.

Is nonhazardous PCB electrical equipment Texas form code 397 or 396?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| 397 | Nonhazardous inorganic electrical equipment with PCBs at 500 ppm or more. |
| 396 | Nonhazardous inorganic electrical equipment with PCBs at 50 to under 500 ppm. |
| 395 | Nonhazardous inorganic solid with PCBs at 500 ppm or more. |
| 399 | Nonhazardous inorganic soil with PCBs at 500 ppm or more. |
Record the material, its inorganic composition, the nonhazardous determination and the PCB result separately. Hazardous waste doesn't fit this form, but that alone doesn't make it an organic-category form.
Which wastes take Texas form code 397?
| Waste | When it’s 397 |
|---|---|
| PCB waste | Nonhazardous inorganic electrical equipment in the upper PCB band. |

| 389 | Nonhazardous inorganic sandblasting waste |
| 390 | Nonhazardous concrete or construction debris |
| 391 | Nonhazardous dewatered wastewater sludge |
| 392 | Nonhazardous dewatered air-control sludge |
| 393 | Catalyst (reaction aid), inorganic solid |
| 394 | PCB inorganic solids, 50 to under 500 ppm |
