Australian Capital Territory
Other organic-solvent process waste
Australian Capital Territory G160: the manufacture, preparation or use of organic solvents must be the source.
Is ACT G160 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. ACT interstate controls apply when the waste matches a NEPM Schedule A List 1 category and has a List 2 hazardous characteristic. The ACT list supplies the printed code, because the NEPM doesn't print A100-style numbers.
For a controlled border movement, enter G160 with the waste description on the waste transport certificate. The producer, transporter and receiver each complete their part. Get ACT EPA's consignment authorisation before bringing controlled waste into the ACT, and record the quantity, form, destination and dangerous goods details. ACT movement exclusions still apply.
What does ACT G160 cover?
Process waste from making, formulating or using organic solvents falls here when no more specific solvent entry fits. It covers the residues of solvent work, not every discarded solvent.

Is solvent process waste always ACT G160?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| G160 | The waste came from making, formulating or using organic solvents and no more specific entry fits. |
Use the ACT entry for an ACT movement record. A national reporting category with the same number is a different thing and doesn't set the ACT movement duty.
Which wastes take ACT G160?
| Waste | When it’s G160 |
|---|---|
| Spent solvents | The residue comes from producing or recovering solvents. |
| Solvent production waste | The residue comes from producing or recovering solvents. |
