D270, Vanadium compounds.

  • New South Wales

    Vanadium compounds

NSW D270: within NSW or interstate; the listed hazardous-characteristic test still applies.

Vanadium compounds, a metal used to harden steel and in catalysts & pigments, found in sludges & spent catalysts.

Is NSW D270 hazardous waste?

Not from the code alone. D270 marks waste that may need tracking. Part 4 requires a matching Schedule 1 waste description and a Part 3 hazardous characteristic. That is a tracking test, not the NSW disposal classification, and the code gives no disposal class. Part 4 covers local and interstate movements.

Where Part 4 tracking applies, enter D270 in the waste-code field of the IWTS Movement, with the description, quantity, parties and the receiver's applicable Movement Authorisation. The approved system issues the Movement reference. The NSW tracking exemptions still apply.

What does NSW D270 cover?

Vanadium compounds. The entry goes by the vanadium compound in the waste, whatever the compound, process or physical form.

Is vanadium compound waste NSW D270?

CodeWhen it fits
D270The waste contains a vanadium compound.

Match both the waste description and the movement scope. The same code used elsewhere doesn't carry NSW's classification or tracking conditions.
