Nickel compounds
WA category D210; load type and road-transport rules decide whether a tracking form follows.
Is WA D210 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. D210 is a WA controlled-waste category. Regulation 3 covers industrial, commercial, medical, laboratory and sewage-treatment waste. Domestic waste is outside it. Waste that a Class I, II or III landfill can lawfully accept is excluded, apart from specified exceptions such as asbestos, tyres and clinical waste.
For a tracked load, enter D210 in the controlled-waste category field on the DWER tracking form. DWER issues the number. The authorised carrier or driver records collection and transport, and the receiving facility closes the record. Record the holder, amount, containment and destination. The WA load thresholds and exclusions still apply.
What does WA D210 cover?
Nickel compounds fall here. The entry goes by nickel compound content, whatever the named compound, process or physical form.

Is nickel compound waste WA D210 or WA D211?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| D210 | The waste holds a nickel compound. |
| D211 | The discarded material is a used nickel-metal hydride battery. |
Landfill acceptance turns on the landfill criteria, not on how the waste looks. A category number and a dangerous goods class answer different questions.
