Australian Capital Territory
Wool-scouring waste
Australian Capital Territory K190: wool scouring is the industrial washing of raw wool.
Is ACT K190 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. For ACT interstate controls, a waste needs a NEPM Schedule A List 1 category and a List 2 hazardous characteristic. The ACT administrative list prints the code. The NEPM itself doesn't print these A100-style numbers.
For a controlled border movement, put K190 with the waste description on the waste transport certificate. The producer, transporter and receiver each complete their parts. Get ACT EPA's consignment authorisation before bringing controlled waste into the ACT, and record the quantity, form, destination and applicable dangerous goods details.
Check the ACT movement exclusions too.
What does ACT K190 cover?
Effluent, sludge and other residue from cleaning wool fall here. The source process sets this category apart from animal-processing waste and unrelated grease or wastewater.

Is wool-scouring waste always ACT K190?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|

Use the ACT administrative entry for an ACT movement record. A national reporting category with the same number has a different purpose and doesn't set the ACT movement duty.
