M170, Polychlorinated dibenzofurans.
Australian Capital Territory
Polychlorinated dibenzofurans
Australian Capital Territory M170: A congener is one chemical variant in the dibenzofuran group; any variant is included.
Is ACT M170 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. For ACT interstate controls, a waste needs a NEPM Schedule A List 1 category and a List 2 hazardous characteristic. The ACT administrative list prints the code. The NEPM itself doesn't print these A100-style numbers.
For a controlled border movement, put M170 with the waste description on the waste transport certificate. The producer, transporter and receiver each complete their parts. Get ACT EPA's consignment authorisation before bringing controlled waste into the ACT, and record the quantity, form, destination and applicable dangerous goods details.
Check the ACT movement exclusions too.
What does ACT M170 cover?
Polychlorinated dibenzofurans of any congener. It covers every chemical variant in the dibenzofuran group, not just named congeners.

Is polychlorinated dibenzofurans always ACT M170?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| M170 | The waste contains any polychlorinated dibenzofuran congener. |
Use the ACT administrative entry for an ACT movement record. A national reporting category with the same number has a different purpose and doesn't set the ACT movement duty.
