Other organohalogen compounds
Australian Capital Territory M160: use only where no other organohalogen code on the same list fits.
Is ACT M160 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. For ACT interstate controls, a waste needs a NEPM Schedule A List 1 category and a List 2 hazardous characteristic. The ACT administrative list prints the code. The NEPM itself doesn't print these A100-style numbers.
For a controlled border movement, put M160 with the waste description on the waste transport certificate. The producer, transporter and receiver each complete their parts. Get ACT EPA's consignment authorisation before bringing controlled waste into the ACT, and record the quantity, form, destination and applicable dangerous goods details.
Check the ACT movement exclusions too.
What does ACT M160 cover?
Organohalogen compounds with no other applicable entry in this list. It is a catch-all, used after the ACT’s more specific organohalogen codes are ruled out.
- Official wording
- Responsibilities of controlled waste producers in the ACT
Is other organohalogen compounds always ACT M160?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| M160 | The compound is organohalogen and no more specific entry in the ACT’s list applies. |
Use the ACT administrative entry for an ACT movement record. A national reporting category with the same number has a different purpose and doesn't set the ACT movement duty.
