Surfactants and detergents
New South Wales M250: surfactants reduce surface tension; check whether the entry requires mainly organic constituents.
Is NSW M250 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. M250 marks a waste that may need tracking. Tracking under Part 4 needs a matching Schedule 1 waste description and a Part 3 hazardous characteristic. That test is separate from the NSW disposal classification, and the code gives no disposal class. Part 4 covers local and interstate movements.
Where tracking applies, enter M250 in the waste-code field of the IWTS Movement, with the description, quantity, parties and the receiver's Movement Authorisation. The approved system issues the Movement reference. NSW tracking exemptions still apply.
What does NSW M250 cover?
Surfactants whose main constituents are organic, including detergent waste that fits the list wording. The waste may also hold metals or inorganic constituents.
