    Fire debris and washwater

NSW N140: within NSW or interstate; the listed hazardous-characteristic test still applies.

Fire debris & fire wash waters, the burnt residue & contaminated run-off left from fighting a fire.

Is NSW N140 hazardous waste?

Not from the code alone. N140 marks a waste that may need tracking. Tracking under Part 4 needs a matching Schedule 1 waste description and a Part 3 hazardous characteristic. That test is separate from the NSW disposal classification, and the code gives no disposal class. Part 4 covers local and interstate movements.

Where tracking applies, enter N140 in the waste-code field of the IWTS Movement, with the description, quantity, parties and the receiver's Movement Authorisation. The approved system issues the Movement reference. NSW tracking exemptions still apply.

What does NSW N140 cover?
