Fixed, solidified or encapsulated waste
New South Wales N160: treatment by encapsulation, chemical fixing, solidification or polymerisation does not erase the waste category.
Is NSW N160 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. N160 marks a waste that may need tracking. Tracking under Part 4 needs a matching Schedule 1 waste description and a Part 3 hazardous characteristic. That test is separate from the NSW disposal classification, and the code gives no disposal class. Part 4 covers local and interstate movements.
Where tracking applies, enter N160 in the waste-code field of the IWTS Movement, with the description, quantity, parties and the receiver's Movement Authorisation. The approved system issues the Movement reference. NSW tracking exemptions still apply.
What does NSW N160 cover?
Waste on this list that has been encapsulated, chemically fixed, solidified or polymerised. Those treatments don't take it out of the description in the NSW list.
