Ceramic-based fibres whose physical & chemical behaviour resembles asbestos, such as furnace insulation.

Is NSW N230 hazardous waste?

Not from the code alone. N230 marks a waste that may need tracking. Tracking under Part 4 needs a matching Schedule 1 waste description and a Part 3 hazardous characteristic. That test is separate from the NSW disposal classification, and the code gives no disposal class. Part 4 covers local and interstate movements.

Where tracking applies, enter N230 in the waste-code field of the IWTS Movement, with the description, quantity, parties and the receiver's Movement Authorisation. The approved system issues the Movement reference. NSW tracking exemptions still apply.

What does NSW N230 cover?
