R120, Discarded medicines and pharmaceuticals.
New South Wales
Discarded medicines and pharmaceuticals
NSW R120: within NSW or interstate; the listed hazardous-characteristic test still applies.
Is NSW R120 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. R120 marks a waste that may need tracking. Tracking under Part 4 needs a matching Schedule 1 waste description and a Part 3 hazardous characteristic. That test is separate from the NSW disposal classification, and the code gives no disposal class. Part 4 covers local and interstate movements.
Where tracking applies, enter R120 in the waste-code field of the IWTS Movement, with the description, quantity, parties and the receiver's Movement Authorisation. The approved system issues the Movement reference. NSW tracking exemptions still apply.
What does NSW R120 cover?
Discarded medicines, drugs and pharmaceutical products. It covers the medicine being thrown away, not waste from making it.
