    Metal and plastic surface-treatment waste

Northern Territory A100: surface treatment is the source; compare heat-treatment cyanide waste under A110.

Waste from surface treatment of metals & plastics in the Northern Territory. Cyanide heat-treatment waste goes under A110.

Is NT A100 hazardous waste?

Not from the code alone. This is an administrative waste code, not the current statutory listed-waste test. NT licensing for listed-waste activities generally covers commercial activity or services for a fee. The waste, the activity and the licence conditions all matter.

Every controlled-waste movement into or out of the NT needs a consignment authorisation and Waste Transfer Certificate. Its waste-code field takes the accepted administrative code with a description. The November 2024 guide makes online tracking within the NT voluntary, but licensed operators still keep records and report volumes under their licence conditions.

For a controlled border movement, enter the accepted code in the Waste Transfer Certificate's waste-code field. Check NT code currency and movement rules.

What does NT A100 cover?

Waste from operations that treat metal or plastic surfaces. The process that made the waste defines the category, not a particular metal, plastic or treatment chemical.
