Metal and plastic surface-treatment waste
Tasmania A100: surface treatment is the source; compare heat-treatment cyanide waste under A110.
Is Tasmania A100 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. For national-list categories, Tasmania requires a listed hazardous characteristic as well as the waste description. The characteristic is presumed unless shown otherwise. Tasmania also sets extra controlled wastes of its own, so read the category and the local rules together.
Put A100 with the specific waste description in the controlled-waste consignment documentation. Record the producer, quantity, form, contaminants, registered transporter and receiver. An incoming interstate controlled load needs EPA Tasmania's consignment authorisation, and another state's certificate doesn't authorise the receiving facility. Apply the Tasmanian handling and transport rules.
What does Tasmania A100 cover?
Waste from operations that treat metal or plastic surfaces. The process that produced the waste defines it, not a named metal, plastic or treatment chemical.

Is metal and plastic surface-treatment waste Tasmania A100 or A110?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| A100 | The waste arose directly from surface treatment of metal or plastic. |
| A110 | The waste comes from cyanide heat treatment or tempering rather than metal or plastic surface treatment. |
Work out the material and where it came from, then apply Tasmania's characteristic and approval rules. The number alone doesn't permit you to transport, reuse or dispose of the load.
