    Alkaline liquids and solid alkalis

Tasmania C100: the material may be an alkaline liquid or an alkali in solid form.

Wastes that are caustic liquids, such as cleaning solutions & lye, or alkalis in solid form. Caustic soda is a common example.

Is Tasmania C100 hazardous waste?

Not from the code alone. For national-list categories, Tasmania also needs a listed hazardous characteristic, not just the waste description. The characteristic is presumed unless shown otherwise. Tasmania adds its own controlled wastes too, so read the category and the local rules together.

Where controlled waste needs movement documentation, enter C100 with the specific waste description in the controlled-waste consignment documentation. Record the producer, quantity, form, contaminants, registered transporter and receiver. The Tasmanian handling and transport rules apply.

A controlled load coming in from another state needs EPA Tasmania's consignment authorisation. Another state's certificate doesn't authorise the receiving facility.

What does Tasmania C100 cover?

Basic or alkaline solutions, and bases or alkalis in solid form, fall here. The shared entry gives no universal pH boundary. Victoria has a separate C100 pair with its own threshold and examples.

Is alkaline waste Tasmania C100 or B100?

CodeWhen it fits
C100The waste is an alkaline solution or a solid alkali.
B100The waste is acidic or a solid acid, not alkaline.

Work out what the material is and where it came from, then apply Tasmania's characteristic and approval rules. The code on the paperwork doesn't give permission to transport, reuse or dispose of the load.
