Alkaline liquids and solid alkalis
Western Australia C100: the material may be an alkaline liquid or an alkali in solid form.
Is WA C100 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. C100 is a WA controlled-waste category. Regulation 3 takes in industrial, commercial, medical, laboratory and sewage-treatment waste and leaves out domestic waste. It also excludes waste that a Class I, II or III landfill can lawfully accept, with set exceptions that include asbestos, tyres and clinical waste.
Where WA road tracking applies, enter C100 in the controlled-waste category field on the DWER tracking form. DWER issues the number. The authorised carrier or driver records collection and transport, and the receiving facility closes the record. Record the holder, amount, containment and destination. The WA load thresholds and exclusions still apply.
What does WA C100 cover?
Alkaline solutions and bases or alkalis in solid form. The shared entry sets no universal pH limit. Victoria has a separate C100 pair with its own threshold and examples.

Is alkaline waste WA C100 or B100?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| C100 | The waste is an alkaline solution or an alkali in solid form. |
| B100 | The waste is acidic or a solid acid rather than alkaline. |
Landfill acceptance follows the acceptance criteria, not how the waste looks. A category number and a dangerous goods classification answer different questions.
