Alkaline liquids and solid alkalis
New South Wales C100: the material may be an alkaline liquid or an alkali in solid form.
Is NSW C100 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. C100 describes waste that may need tracking. Part 4 tracking needs a matching Schedule 1 waste description and a Part 3 hazardous characteristic. That test is separate from the NSW disposal classification, and the code gives no disposal class. Part 4 covers local and interstate movements.
Where tracking applies, enter C100 in the waste-code field of the IWTS Movement, with the description, quantity, parties and the receiver's Movement Authorisation. The approved system issues the Movement reference. The NSW tracking exemptions still apply.
What does NSW C100 cover?
Alkaline solutions and solid bases or alkalis. There is no universal pH boundary. Victoria has a separate C100 pair with its own threshold and examples.

Is alkaline waste NSW C100 or B100?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| C100 | The waste is an alkaline solution or a solid alkali. |
| B100 | The waste is acidic or a solid acid, not alkaline. |
Match both the waste description and the movement scope. Another state or territory using the same code does not carry NSW's classification or tracking conditions with it.
