E120, Explosive waste.
Northern Territory
Explosive waste
Northern Territory E120: use only where another explosives law does not already govern the material.
Is NT E120 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. A waste code here is an administrative description, not the statutory listed-waste test. NT licensing generally controls listed-waste activities that are commercial or done for a fee. The waste, the activity and the licence conditions all matter.
Every controlled-waste movement into or out of the NT needs a consignment authorisation and a Waste Transfer Certificate. Its waste-code field takes the accepted code with a description. The November 2024 guide makes online tracking within the NT voluntary, but licensed operators still keep records and report volumes under their licence conditions. For a controlled border movement, enter the accepted code in that field. Read the NT code currency and movement rules first.
What does NT E120 cover?
Explosive waste goes here when the separate explosives legislation named in the NT list doesn't govern it. That carve-out is part of the entry's scope.

Is explosive waste NT E120 or another code?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| E120 | The waste is explosive and sits outside the separate explosives legislation. |
| T200 | Other dangerous-goods legislation controls the material and no more specific code fits. |
The older table helps identify a description, but it doesn't show today's portal acceptance or an operator's current licence conditions. Get the movement approval before dispatch.
