Other organohalogen compounds
Western Australia M160: use only where no other organohalogen code on the same list fits.
Is WA M160 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. M160 is a WA controlled-waste category. Regulation 3 covers industrial, commercial, medical, laboratory and sewage-treatment waste, but not domestic waste. Waste lawfully accepted at a Class I, II or III landfill is excluded, except for specified items including asbestos, tyres and clinical waste.
For a tracked load, enter M160 in the controlled-waste category field on the DWER tracking form. DWER issues the number. The authorised carrier or driver records collection and transport, and the receiving facility closes the record. Record the holder, amount, containment and destination. Road tracking in WA follows the WA load thresholds and exclusions.
What does WA M160 cover?
Organohalogen compounds that fit no other entry on the list fall here. This is a catch-all, used once WA’s more specific organohalogen codes are ruled out.

Is other organohalogen waste WA M160?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| M160 | The compound is organohalogen and no more specific entry on the WA list fits. |
Landfill acceptance depends on the landfill criteria, not on how the waste looks. A category number and a dangerous goods class answer different questions.
