M100, Polychlorinated biphenyl material.
Western Australia
Polychlorinated biphenyl material
Western Australia M100: PCB means polychlorinated biphenyl; this WA entry does not add PCN, PCT or PBB material.
Is WA M100 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. M100 is a WA controlled-waste category. Regulation 3 covers industrial, commercial, medical, laboratory and sewage-treatment waste, but not domestic waste. Waste lawfully accepted at a Class I, II or III landfill is excluded, except for specified items including asbestos, tyres and clinical waste.
For a tracked load, enter M100 in the controlled-waste category field on the DWER tracking form. DWER issues the number. The authorised carrier or driver records collection and transport, and the receiving facility closes the record. Record the holder, amount, containment and destination. Road tracking in WA follows the WA load thresholds and exclusions.
What does WA M100 cover?
Discarded substances or articles containing polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) fall here. The WA wording covers PCBs only, not PCN, PCT or PBB material.

Is PCB waste WA M100 or M105?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| M100 | The waste contains polychlorinated biphenyls. |
| M105 | Analysis finds PBB, PCN or PCT, not PCB. |
Landfill acceptance depends on the landfill criteria, not on how the waste looks. A category number and a dangerous goods class answer different questions.
Which wastes take WA M100?
| Waste | When it’s M100 |
|---|---|
| PCB-contaminated waste | Analysis confirms PCBs. |
