Industrial wash water with controlled waste
Western Australia L150: controlled waste in industrial wash water distinguishes this entry from ordinary vehicle-wash water.
Is WA L150 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. L150 is a WA controlled-waste category. Regulation 3 covers industrial, commercial, medical, laboratory and sewage-treatment waste, but not domestic waste. Waste lawfully accepted at a Class I, II or III landfill is excluded, except for specified items including asbestos, tyres and clinical waste.
For a tracked load, enter L150 in the controlled-waste category field on the DWER tracking form. DWER issues the number. The authorised carrier or driver records collection and transport, and the receiving facility closes the record. Record the holder, amount, containment and destination. Road tracking in WA follows the WA load thresholds and exclusions.
What does WA L150 cover?
Water from industrial washing that contains controlled waste falls here. It needs both facts. The water comes from industrial washing and carries a controlled-waste contaminant.

Is industrial wash water WA L150 or L100?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| L150 | Controlled waste is present in wash water from an industrial process. |
| L100 | The wastewater comes from washing vehicles and holds no other controlled waste. |
Landfill acceptance depends on the landfill criteria, not on how the waste looks. A category number and a dangerous goods class answer different questions.
