Wool-scouring waste
Western Australia K190: wool scouring is the industrial washing of raw wool.
Is WA K190 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. K190 is a WA controlled-waste category. Regulation 3 covers industrial, commercial, medical, laboratory and sewage-treatment waste, but not domestic waste. Waste lawfully accepted at a Class I, II or III landfill is excluded, except for specified items including asbestos, tyres and clinical waste.
For a tracked load, enter K190 in the controlled-waste category field on the DWER tracking form. DWER issues the number. The authorised carrier or driver records collection and transport, and the receiving facility closes the record. Record the holder, amount, containment and destination. Road tracking in WA follows the WA load thresholds and exclusions.
What does WA K190 cover?
Effluent, sludge and other residue from cleaning wool fall here. The source process sets it apart from animal-processing waste and unrelated grease or wastewater.
