Western Australia
Animal-processing effluent and residue
WA category K100; load type and road-transport rules decide whether a tracking form follows.
Is WA K100 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. K100 is a WA controlled-waste category. Regulation 3 covers industrial, commercial, medical, laboratory and sewage-treatment waste, but not domestic waste. Waste lawfully accepted at a Class I, II or III landfill is excluded, except for specified items including asbestos, tyres and clinical waste.
For a tracked load, enter K100 in the controlled-waste category field on the DWER tracking form. DWER issues the number. The authorised carrier or driver records collection and transport, and the receiving facility closes the record. Record the holder, amount, containment and destination. Road tracking in WA follows the WA load thresholds and exclusions.
What does WA K100 cover?
Effluent and residues from animal processing fall here, including abattoir, poultry and fish-processing waste. Liquid and residual material both count, and there is no concentration threshold.

| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| K100 | The effluent or residue came from an abattoir, poultry, fish or other animal-processing operation. |
Landfill acceptance depends on the landfill criteria, not on how the waste looks. A category number and a dangerous goods class answer different questions.
