Oil sludge
WA category J180; load type and road-transport rules decide whether a tracking form follows.
Is WA J180 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. J180 is a WA controlled-waste category. Regulation 3 covers industrial, commercial, medical, laboratory and sewage-treatment waste, but not domestic waste. Waste lawfully accepted at a Class I, II or III landfill is excluded, except for specified items including asbestos, tyres and clinical waste.
For a tracked load, enter J180 in the controlled-waste category field on the DWER tracking form. DWER issues the number. The authorised carrier or driver records collection and transport, and the receiving facility closes the record. Record the holder, amount, containment and destination. Road tracking in WA follows the WA load thresholds and exclusions.
What does WA J180 cover?
Sludge made of or contaminated by waste oil falls under the WA oil-sludge category. Oil sludge is a different waste form from free waste oil or an oil-and-water mixture.
