Organics
Other organic hazardous solid
No halogenated-solid, resin, adhesive, latex or other named organic entry fits.
Is California code 352 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. The material must first be determined hazardous. California code 352 is not restricted, and a restricted code takes priority over it. A non-restricted code doesn't make a waste non-hazardous.
If the shipment needs the Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest, enter 352 in Item 13 for the waste line. Use one California code, plus any federal RCRA codes when the waste is federally hazardous.
Waste is RCRA waste when it meets a federal listing or characteristic and no federal exclusion applies. Non-RCRA waste is hazardous under California rules only. California presumes hazardous waste is RCRA unless the generator shows it isn't, so keep that determination.
What does California code 352 cover?
This is the fallback for hazardous organic solids when no more specific organic waste description fits. Physical form isn't enough. Composition and use can put a solid in the halogenated-material, monomer, polymeric-resin, adhesive or latex codes. Keep the evidence showing which specific descriptions you ruled out.

Is an organic solid California code 352?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| 352 | The hazardous organic solid fits none of the more specific organic material or process codes. |
| 351 | The hazardous organic solid holds halogens and no restricted code applies. |
| 271 | An organic monomer, or a resin that hasn't reacted. |
| 272 | Hazardous polymerized resin. |
| 281 | Hazardous adhesive. |
Don't use 352 just because a solid contains carbon. Identify the material and its source first. For halogenated organic solids the published units for 751 conflict, so confirm the restricted classification rather than converting the units yourself.
Which wastes take California code 352?
| Waste | When it’s 352 |
|---|---|
| Other organic solid | Composition rules out halogenated solids and the named resin, adhesive and latex codes. |
Which codes sit beside California code 352?
| Code | What it is |

| 291 | Discarded latex material |
| 311 | Discarded pharmaceuticals |
| 321 | Hazardous sewage sludge |
| 322 | Other hazardous biological waste |
| 331 | Unused organic material |
| 341 | Halogenated non-solvent organic liquid |
| 342 | Organic liquid with listed metals |
| 343 | Other organic liquid mixture |
