Surfactants and detergents
Australian Capital Territory M250: surfactants reduce surface tension; check whether the entry requires mainly organic constituents.
Is ACT M250 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. For ACT interstate controls, a waste needs a NEPM Schedule A List 1 category and a List 2 hazardous characteristic. The ACT administrative list prints the code. The NEPM itself doesn't print these A100-style numbers.
For a controlled border movement, put M250 with the waste description on the waste transport certificate. The producer, transporter and receiver each complete their parts. Get ACT EPA's consignment authorisation before bringing controlled waste into the ACT, and record the quantity, form, destination and applicable dangerous goods details.
Check the ACT movement exclusions too.
What does ACT M250 cover?
Surfactants made mainly of organic constituents, whether or not metals or other inorganic materials are also present.

Is surfactants and detergents always ACT M250?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| M250 | The waste is a surfactant whose composition meets the ACT’s list wording. |
Use the ACT administrative entry for an ACT movement record. A national reporting category with the same number has a different purpose and doesn't set the ACT movement duty.
