Fire debris and washwater
ACT guide entry N140; it supports interstate control and does not settle local disposal approval.
Is ACT N140 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. For ACT interstate controls, a waste needs a NEPM Schedule A List 1 category and a List 2 hazardous characteristic. The ACT administrative list prints the code. The NEPM itself doesn't print these A100-style numbers.
For a controlled border movement, put N140 with the waste description on the waste transport certificate. The producer, transporter and receiver each complete their parts. Get ACT EPA's consignment authorisation before bringing controlled waste into the ACT, and record the quantity, form, destination and applicable dangerous goods details.
Check the ACT movement exclusions too.
What does ACT N140 cover?
Fire debris and fire washwater. The source is a fire or firefighting, and the code covers solid debris as well as extinguishing washwater.

Is fire debris and washwater always ACT N140?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| N140 | The waste is debris or washwater produced by a fire or firefighting. |
Use the ACT administrative entry for an ACT movement record. A national reporting category with the same number has a different purpose and doesn't set the ACT movement duty.
