Fixed, solidified or encapsulated waste
Australian Capital Territory N160: treatment by encapsulation, chemical fixing, solidification or polymerisation does not erase the waste category.
Is ACT N160 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. For ACT interstate controls, a waste needs a NEPM Schedule A List 1 category and a List 2 hazardous characteristic. The ACT administrative list prints the code. The NEPM itself doesn't print these A100-style numbers.
For a controlled border movement, put N160 with the waste description on the waste transport certificate. The producer, transporter and receiver each complete their parts. Get ACT EPA's consignment authorisation before bringing controlled waste into the ACT, and record the quantity, form, destination and applicable dangerous goods details.
Check the ACT movement exclusions too.
What does ACT N160 cover?
Waste that has been encapsulated, chemically fixed, solidified or polymerised. Those treatments don't take the material out of the waste description in the ACT’s list.

Is fixed, solidified or encapsulated waste always ACT N160?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| N160 | The waste has been encapsulated, chemically fixed, solidified or polymerised. |
Use the ACT administrative entry for an ACT movement record. A national reporting category with the same number has a different purpose and doesn't set the ACT movement duty.
Which wastes take ACT N160?
