N190, Filter cake (solids left after filtration).
Australian Capital Territory
Filter cake (solids left after filtration)
ACT guide entry N190; it supports interstate control and does not settle local disposal approval.
Is ACT N190 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. For ACT interstate controls, a waste needs a NEPM Schedule A List 1 category and a List 2 hazardous characteristic. The ACT administrative list prints the code. The NEPM itself doesn't print these A100-style numbers.
For a controlled border movement, put N190 with the waste description on the waste transport certificate. The producer, transporter and receiver each complete their parts. Get ACT EPA's consignment authorisation before bringing controlled waste into the ACT, and record the quantity, form, destination and applicable dangerous goods details.
Check the ACT movement exclusions too.
What does ACT N190 cover?
Solid filter cake left after a liquid or slurry is filtered. It is the cake retained by the filter, so form and process decide the code.

Is filter cake (solids left after filtration) always ACT N190?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| N190 | The material is the solid cake retained during filtration. |
Use the ACT administrative entry for an ACT movement record. A national reporting category with the same number has a different purpose and doesn't set the ACT movement duty.
Which wastes take ACT N190?
| Waste | When it’s N190 |
|---|---|
| Contaminated filter cake | The filter cake contains a controlled contaminant. |
