H170, Wood-preservative chemical waste.
New South Wales
Wood-preservative chemical waste
New South Wales H170: the waste must arise from making, preparing or using chemicals that preserve wood.
Is NSW H170 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. H170 marks waste that may need tracking. Part 4 requires a matching Schedule 1 waste description and a Part 3 hazardous characteristic. That is a tracking test, not the NSW disposal classification, and the code gives no disposal class. Part 4 covers local and interstate movements.
Where Part 4 tracking applies, enter H170 in the waste-code field of the IWTS Movement, with the description, quantity, parties and the receiver's applicable Movement Authorisation. The approved system issues the Movement reference. The NSW tracking exemptions still apply.
What does NSW H170 cover?
Process waste from making, formulating or using chemicals that preserve wood. The entry is tied to that activity, not to every item made of treated timber.
