Queensland D290: barium sulphate is outside this barium-compound entry where the catalogue says so.
Is Queensland D290 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. D290 is a Schedule 11 trackable-waste description. A load is tracked while the commercial or industrial waste stays regulated under section 42. Check the Schedule 9 exclusions and the section 42(4) test-out route first, as they decide whether a movement is trackable. D290 has no precedence mark when several descriptions fit.
For a tracked load, enter D290 in the waste-code field of the Queensland waste transport certificate. The generator fills in Part 1, the transporter Part 2 and the receiver Part 3. Lodge it online, by bulk upload or on numbered paper, whichever route is approved. The Queensland exclusions still apply.
What does Queensland D290 cover?
Barium compounds fall here, but barium sulphate is excluded. So the compound matters. A barium compound is not enough when it is the sulphate.

Is barium waste always Queensland D290?
| Code | When it fits |
|---|---|
| D290 | The waste is a barium compound other than barium sulphate. |
Where several descriptions fit, an asterisk in Queensland's tracking list decides which takes precedence. It is not an EWC hazardous-waste marker. A resource must meet its end-of-waste code or approval conditions before it leaves the waste regime.
