Solvent-based paint, ink and dye waste

Western Australia F120: the waste must be solvent-based and come from making, preparing or using the listed coatings or colourants.

WA waste code for solvent-based waste from inks, dyes, pigments, paints, lacquers & varnish. Water-based waste is separate.

Is WA F120 hazardous waste?

Not from the code alone. F120 is a WA controlled-waste category. Regulation 3 covers industrial, commercial, medical, laboratory and sewage-treatment waste. Domestic waste is outside it. Waste that a Class I, II or III landfill can lawfully accept is excluded, apart from specified exceptions such as asbestos, tyres and clinical waste.

For a tracked load, enter F120 in the controlled-waste category field on the DWER tracking form. DWER issues the number. The authorised carrier or driver records collection and transport, and the receiving facility closes the record. Record the holder, amount, containment and destination. The WA load thresholds and exclusions still apply.

What does WA F120 cover?

Solvent-based waste from making, formulating or using paint, lacquer, varnish, ink, dye or pigment falls here. Water-based waste from the same products takes F100 where the lists split them.
