R140, Pharmaceutical-production waste.
Australian Capital Territory
Pharmaceutical-production waste
ACT guide entry R140; it supports interstate control and does not settle local disposal approval.
Is ACT R140 hazardous waste?
Not from the code alone. For ACT interstate controls, a waste needs a NEPM Schedule A List 1 category and a List 2 hazardous characteristic. The ACT administrative list prints the code. The NEPM itself doesn't print these A100-style numbers.
For a controlled border movement, put R140 with the waste description on the waste transport certificate. The producer, transporter and receiver each complete their parts. Get ACT EPA's consignment authorisation before bringing controlled waste into the ACT, and record the quantity, form, destination and applicable dangerous goods details.
Check the ACT movement exclusions too.
What does ACT R140 cover?
Discarded material from making or preparing pharmaceutical products. The source is making or preparing them, not their later use or disposal as medicines.
