What pH makes waste an acid entry in Victoria?

Victoria’s B100 covers solid acids and acidic solutions at pH 4 or less. Other catalogues can describe acidic solutions without that threshold. A pH reading doesn’t identify every other controlled constituent.

What if an acid waste also contains metals or cyanide?

Several descriptions can fit one mixture, so identify the process and constituents as well as pH. Victoria requires the most hazardous classification that applies. Queensland gives precedence to an asterisked trackable category that applies.

Which exclusions or special routes apply to waste acid codes?

South Australia. Householders and farmers can take acids to South Australia’s free household chemical depots.

Australian Capital Territory. Small quantities of unwanted household acids can go to the free household chemical drop-off at Mugga Lane or Mitchell.

The shared classification and movement limits for waste acid codes are on the Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, Australian Capital Territory and Northern Territory pages.
